A time domain simulation model for the dynamic system chassi-suspension-cab is described and used. The validation showed good agreement between model and experimental results. The influence of different suspension parameters on vibration damping capacity and the requirement for free space in the construction were investigated. Particular emphasis was placed on the effects of passive non-linear suspension elements. An optimization model has been developed and used to optimize suspension parameters with respect to specially define conditions and restrictions. The change in the optimized parameters and the damping capacity with respect to changes in given restrictions have been studied. The study is primarily concentrated on the combination agricultural tractor - cab suspension but the model is general and applicable also to other types of vehicles.
