Planners working for sustainable development are constrained by a limited understanding of landscape development in peri-urban areas. This paper explores how peri-urban landscape analysis could be developed as a strategic instrument within comprehensive planning through the presentation of two on-going research projects at the Dept. of Landscape Architecture at SLU Alnarp, Sweden
