Abstract
Synthetic male sex attractants have been optimized for 3 Orthosia species, all of them potential orchard pests. To detect the occurrence of these species, baits consisting of a dose of 1000 μg of a 20:1 mixture of (Z)‐11‐hexadecen‐1‐ol and (Z)‐11‐hexadecenal; of 1000 μg of a 100:1 mixture of (Z)‐11‐hexadecenal and (Z)‐9‐tetradecenal; and of a dose of 1000–100 μg of a 20:1 mixture of (Z)‐11‐hexadecenyl acetate and (Z)‐9‐tetradecenyl acetate are recommended for O. munda, O. stabilis and O. cruda, respectively.
