Report1995
Lehtikangas P, Jirjis Raida
Results are presented from a study of moisture content, ash content, gross calorific value, microfungal spores and proportion of fine fraction in logging residues (mainly spruce [Picea abies]) from areas in Sweden with differing amounts of precipitation. Variation in fuel quality was small, but there were large differences in moisture content at the end of the storage period. Storage in windrows is considered a better alternative to storing comminuted material, and it is recommended that windrows in precipitation-rich areas are covered so that rainwater and snowmelt can run off
