See (C) the landscape architect and her cumulative knowledge process in landscape aesthetics

Wingren, Carola

Abstract

This paper presents a thesis made to reveal something about creative design and art processes in an architect’s practice. The method used is an introspective and autobiographical study through a period of fifteen years. The research methods are qualitative, based in the artistic field with inspiration from hermeneutics. Themes discussed are; the meaningful content, the representational expression, and the creative process. Also the dimensions of landscape aesthetics - art and design, the responsibility of the architect, and the importance of conceptualization through drawings and concepts are put forward. The most important results of the work presented are a contribution to the development of a methodology for studying aesthetics and the artistic role in architecture together with a philosophically oriented concept development through practice
