Xie, Xinfeng; Goodell, Barry; Daniel, Geoffrey; Qian, Yuhui; Jellison, Jody; Peterson, Michael

Abstract

In this paper, formation of unique carbon nanostructures via carbonization of wood in a step-wise process is reviewed. The mechanism described for the production of carbon nanotubes improves our understanding of a historic mystery related to the production of Damascus steel. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
