Different industrial processes in Sweden have been investigated regarding their emissions of PCDD/F to the environment. Levels, congener patterns and estimated annual emissions are compared for the samples analyzed. The results support the assumption that the metallurgical industry is one of the main sources for PCDD/F to the Swedish environment. The results also indicate that textile manufacturing may be an important source of dioxins. Combined emissions from small processes may also have an impact on the environment. Among the samples investigated were wastes from industrial processes, some of which showed very high PCDD/F levels, emphasizing that wastes are also important PCDD/F sources.
