Rumpunen, Kimmo; Kviklys, Darius; Kaufmane, Edite; Garkava, Larisa

Abstract

During recent years, the genus Chaenomeles has attracted increasing interest as a fruit crop. Recently a joint programme aimed at fundamental research and applied breeding was established to provide well-adapted varieties of high quality for commercial production. In this programme, reproduction is studied and breeding potential investigated. Literature is reviewed to establish the state-of-the-art, and some preliminary results are reported.
