A tool carrier system with autopilot steering

Leuchovius, Torbjörn

Abstract

In 2002-2004 a flexible tool carrier system with autopilot GPS steering has been developed. It will be used for drilling and spraying in the spring 2004. The tool carrier has a 31 kW diesel engine, a spacious driver´s cabin with carbon filter and heater, hydrostatic 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering. It has a front lift for mid-mounted implements, with 3-point linkage geometry, and a rear parallell lift. The system can be used for many types of mounted plot equipment and two tools can also be combined. This flexible system allows for a good working environment for the driver. The GPS autopilot, using real-time kinematic (RTK) high precision GPS, makes it possible to drive very exactly and straight through the plots, while the driver’s attention can be focused on operating and surveying the equipment
