Abstract

This chapter focuses on the role of the genetic resources and intellectual property rights programme (GRIP) in improving the target countries' capacity to serve their informed national interests in GR/IP matters and develop further the infrastructure needed in terms of professionals and institutions/functions and thus contribute to long-term development and poverty alleviation. The impact of the GR policy landscape on global food security is also discussed.
