Growth of carbon sausages filled with in situ formed tungsten oxide nanorods: thermal dissociation of tungsten(VI) isopropoxide in isopropanol

Inthisarticle,wereportasimple,one-stage,efficientsyntheticmethodforthegrowthofcarbonsausagesfilledwithinsituformedtungstenoxidenanorods(CSTON),withoutanyexternalcatalyst.Thethermaldissociationoftungsten(VI)isopropoxide,5%w/vinisopropanolat7001CinaclosedSwagelokcellinaninertatmosphereyieldedaCSTONproduct.TheproductischaracterizedbySEM,TEM,EDAX,C,H,N,Sanalysis,TGA,Ramanspectroscopy,andHR-TEM.Theassignmentofthestructureofthesausagesasacarbonshell,withthecentralpartbeingtheWOx,isbasedonSAEDSspectra.Thesamereactionwasalsoconductedatalowertemperatureclosertothetemperaturesofsolvothermalreactions,at3501C.ThereactionyieldedWOxnanorodswithadiameterrangingfrom10nmto50nmandalengthofupto6mmPublished in
