Svart vapenfluga, Hermetia illucens: invasiv mat?
Jonsell, MatsAbstract
The Black soldier fly Hermetia illucens (Linnaeus, 1758) has been caught outdoors in Sweden for the first time. This fly has been spread all over the world, much because it effectively can decay various organic matters and therefore used for composting. The Swedish record was done in Uppsala, close to such a mass breeding of the fly, which has the aim to provide material for research on the species. Studies on the tolerance of the species suggest that Swedish climate is too cold for the species. However, the future will tell if it can colonise outdoor habitats here and risk to become an invasive species. Keywords
