The new Swedish Red List of vascular plants, algae, bryophytes, lichens and macrofungi is briefly presented. Slightly over 20% of the assessed species have been included on the Red List. Compared to 2005, the rate of loss is more or less constant. For the first time two widespread tree species, Fraxinus excelsior and Ulmus glabra, meet the criteria for being threatened. Their steep decline is caused by the Ash dieback and the Dutch elm disease, respectively. For the first time also some Rhodophyta, Phaeophyceae and green algae have been assessed. Climate change seems to have affected some bryophytes, while reduced levels of air pollution have contributed to the recovery of some lichens. The main threat to macrofungi and lichens is still forestry, whereas modern agricultural practices are the most common threats to vascular plant species.
