Biophilia revisited: nature versus nurture

Gunnarsson, Bengt; Hedblom, Marcus

Abstract

The 'Biophilia' hypothesis high- lighting humans' innate, positive response to nature is both increas- ingly accepted and questioned. Studies support an updated Biophilia. The interplay between in- heritance and environment, includ- ing culture, governs an individual's response, from positive to nega- tive. Variety in urban green spaces is needed to optimise benefits to all residents.
