Sammanfattning

Based on the thirteen designs described in the Natural Stone Manual, this project was aiming for developing documents supporting self assessment working with natural stone. The practical working process with natural stone was not in compliance with traditional quality assurance activities. The competence in the business is low concerning quality planning and methods for quality assurance. The real world of working with natural stone showed many mistakes, often discovered late after inspection. The steering group of the project chooses to try improving documentation of the working process in terms of inspection of quality instead of up front quality planning and quality assurance. The result was a document describing the actual result of the work with natural stone. This could generate feedback for future improvements and avoid repeating old mistakes. There is a need for developing higher competence in quality assurance in general in the construction business. Competence development is probably the most important factor for the future for the members of the Natural Stone Industry Association.
