MXene is an advanced layered semiconducting nanomaterial with negatively charged surface functional groups. The MXene's diverse chemical composition and effective surface functionalities facilitated the formation of the composite material. MXene and polymer-based composites’ excellent physicochemical characteristics and effective synergistic functionalities have promising potential to generate magical power in the MXene–polymer composite to remove emerging contaminants (ECs). Compatible polymer-substituted molecules can modify the outermost functionalization of MXenes, enhancing their mechanical and physical characteristics to create improved MXene–polymer hybrids ideal for adsorption. The effective and successful incorporation of the polymer with MXene enhanced the adsorption spots on the MXene, their structural stability, and recyclability. This chapter discussed the characteristics, mechanism, and emerging pollutant removal performance of the MXene and polymer-based hybrid material in an aqueous solution. Lastly, the future challenges and prospects will be addressed. In a nutshell, this chapter provided basic insights into the MXene and polymer-based hybrid material in the field of ECs removal.
