Sammanfattning

In recent decades, rural entrepreneurship has incited the interest of many research scholars in contemporary societies; thus, it is established as an ‘academic field of scholarship’. Although the rural entrepreneurship policy framework has primarily targeted developing countries, the empirical literature mainly comes from developed countries (i.e., the UK, the USA, Denmark, Greece, and Finland). Thus, in this chapter, we focus on rural entrepreneurship in the context of transition economies, more specifically, Kosovo. We examine the drivers and barriers that rural entrepreneurs face and investigate how they do entrepreneurship. The chapter focuses on artisan rural enterprises operating in Kosovo. Given the context, we want to explore the variety of experiences of rural entrepreneurs, thus enriching the understanding of rural entrepreneurship. Hence, this chapter contributes to the conceptualisation of rural entrepreneurship and the actual doing of rural entrepreneurs in the context of transition economies.
