In this paper, I review some mechanisms by which cortical neurodynamics may be regulated, at different organisational scales. We use computational methods to describe the relation between structure, dynamics and function of cortical structures, and focus here on the regulatory mechanisms at subcellular (microscopic), cellular (mesoscopic) and network (macroscopic) levels of neural systems. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the neural mechanisms responsible for changes in the neurodynamics, which include phase shifts in the cellular spiking patterns, as well as in the EEG dynamics
