Sammanfattning

The presentation reports on the work and preliminary results of an on-going 3-year project (2003-2005) aimed at the development of advanced methods for detection and measurement of single trees in high-resolution satellite imagery e.g. IKONOS, Quick Bird and airborne optical sensors. The approach taken is based on the development of a highly detailed geometric-optical model, capable of simulating the response of high-resolution optical sensors for groups of trees under arbitrary viewing and illumination conditions. The final model will also include a representation of species specific branching structures and optical properties of ground vegetations types. The geometric models and detection algorithms will be evaluated against real tree position data and co-registered high-resolution image data sets available on test sites in both northern and southern Sweden
