The use of high-resolution magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy for in situ studies of low-molecular-mass compounds in red algae has been studied. The impact of different acquisition parameters on the resulting T-2-filtered one-dimensional high-resolution magic angle spinning H-1 NMR spectra is described. The technique was used for in situ identification and quantification of some low-molecular-mass algal metabolites, (C) 2000 Academic Press.
